Billboard Women in Music 2025 was a red carpet fever dream of fierce fashion, powerhouse performances, and award-winning boss energy—aka, Beyoncé wasn’t there, but her spirit absolutely was.
Slay Queens: Billboard Women in Music 2025 Was a Total Vibe (And We’re Still Recovering)
Let’s just say it straight: the Billboard Women in Music 2025 event was a glitter-studded masterclass in boss energy. Held at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California, the ceremony brought together some of the fiercest, most fabulous women in the music industry—and yes, it was a moment. Hosted by the endlessly charismatic Laverne Cox, this year’s soirée was all about unapologetic talent, glam, and a little bit of chaos (looking at you, Erykah Badu).
Women Who Rocked the Stage and the Mic
Let’s start with the woman of the hour: Doechii, crowned Woman of the Year. She’s come a long way from being Billboard’s Rising Star in 2023, and her performance proved one thing—this queen did not come to play. “I’m gonna keep performing like nobody’s watching,” she declared, which is ironic because literally everyone was watching and living for it.
Then there was Jennie from BLACKPINK, who snatched the Global Force Award. She accepted with grace, charisma, and a statement to remember: “This is for all the women trying to make a global impact.” We felt that. Also, her look? 12/10. Blackpink in your area, and now Billboard’s too.
Erykah Badu reminded us why she’s icon status with her Icon Award win—and yes, she gave the internet a collective meltdown with her avant-garde look, which some dubbed “Doja-coded,” whatever that means (TikTok, explain yourselves). But Badu’s been serving extraterrestrial chic since before half the audience was born, so put some respect on that sage hat.
Meghan Trainor, ever the hitmaker (literally), strutted in a sheer skirt that had people talking—and not just about her Hitmaker Award. She reminded us she’s behind more earworms than we can count, not to mention she's written hits for other artists too. She came, she sang, she see-through-slayed.
And Ángela Aguilar had the whole theater tearing up with her Breakthrough Award speech, where she talked about standing strong, facing criticism, and uplifting immigrant women. Talent with a heart? We stan.
The Red Carpet Was a Runway Show
Let’s talk fashion because OMG.
Tyla gave us couture cobweb goddess in a sheer Jean Paul Gaultier dress. Is it still fashion if it could double as a haunted house decoration? YES. If Tyla wears it, it’s a trend.
JoJo Siwa flipped the script with a tailored suit that said “grown, booked, and unbothered.”
And don’t sleep on the smaller moments—everyone from Becky G to Gracie Abrams delivered looks that had cameras clicking and fans fanning.
The Performances? Pure Fire.
The lineup was tight, and the performances were tighter. From Gracie Abrams' ethereal ballads to Megan Moroney's country-girl grit, the show was a perfect blend of style, soul, and “how do I Shazam that?”
Erykah Badu gave a performance that felt like a spiritual experience (we think she hexed our ex through her music—thank you, queen). Doechii brought the house down with her energy, practically turning the theater into a dancefloor.
The Billboard Women in Music 2025 event wasn’t just a reminder that women are not only in music but are shaping, leading, and redefining it. From hitmakers and icons to trailblazing newcomers, the evening proved once again that women in music are a force of nature—and they’re not asking for space anymore. They’re taking it.
